About Extreme Ice Hockey
I created this site for two reasons.
One, because I love hockey. Secondly, because there was a lot of
hockey information I was not able to find online. For instance,
if I wanted to find the scores from the 1942 Stanley Cup Finals or
the NHL standings in 1960, I simply couldn't locate it. And if I
could find it, it was always a pain in the neck.
So I decided
that I would build the site myself and I would put the information online.
I started the project in 2004, and worked on it for about 4
months. Then, the stupid NHL lockout came, I got pissed off at the
NHL, and I
stopped working on the site. I picked the whole process back up
again when I learned there would be a 2005-06 season. And after
about another 6 months of work, the initial 1,000-plus pages were complete and
the site was launched on February 1, 2006.
While I put the foundation of the site in place, it's no longer just
me. There is now an international team contributing to the site, who
work out of Canada, Finland, and the United States.
What We Offer
For the NHL, we offer the hard to
find stuff. All-time NHL standings
from the first season to the current season. Game scores
and information for every Stanley
Cup finals since 1918. Team pages, with complete historic standings,
retired numbers, draft picks, and team and player records for each team
(and the same info for every inactive NHL team that has ever existed).
There's a lot more,
but you get the point.
We also focus on covering a broad range of topics, as there is more to hockey than
just the NHL. So there's also coverage of Olympic Hockey, women's
hockey, Canada Cup, World Cup, and the World Championship.
Ultimately, we focused on the hard-to-find hockey material and a desire to deliver
unique content. After all, you can find stats and the NHL standings
all over the place. But what if you're looking for info on the Quebec
Nordiques standings or who won the Olympic Gold in 1936? We have it.
And as you may have guessed, Great Britain won the Olympic Gold in '36.
That pretty much covers what we do and
how we got here. Our entire staff plays or
has played hockey. We all love to watch it. And we all love to
talk about it. We simply love the game ... big time!
So from one hockey fan to another, I sincerely hope
you have fun with the site!
